If you wish to ride full power motorcycles without the 2 year restriction, providing you are at least 21 years old, you may train with a qualified Direct Access instructor and take your test on a large capacity motorcycle which must be over 46.6bhp.

 

Upon passing the Direct Access motorcycle test you will gain a full unrestricted bhp/cc licence straight away.

 

For Direct Access we use the 100bhp Yamaha FZ 600N.

 

This machine is one of Yamaha’s latest 600’s and is an ideal ‘real feel‘ motorcycle, giving the rider  essential skills to handle today’s modern motorcycle.

 

Without exception, all of our DAS trainees have found training on this machine a totally exhilarating experience. In fact their cheeks are usually aching from the constant grin this bike generates.

 

Of course the ‘street cred’ of riding a ‘proper bike’ is a huge bonus.

 

All lessons are guaranteed one to one.

THEORY TEST

You will have to take and pass the motorcycle theory test before applying for the practical riding test unless

· You already hold a full licence in another motorcycle category

· You have passed a two part moped test since 1st July 1996

The theory test is computer based and tests your knowledge and understanding of both riding theory and hazard perception.

 

There are various training aids to prepare you for the test including The Official DSA Theory Test for Motorcyclists available on CD Rom or as a book and of course an up to date copy of The Highway Code, all available from most good book stores
